Philodendron - Congo Rojo
The Philodendron is a great houseplant that provides big impact with only a little required care. Philodendrons now survive in varied conditions all over the world and can be found from the tropical Americas to Australia. The name comes from joining the Greek words for love (Philo) and tree (Dendron) and we're certain that having a love tree in the house can only be a good thing. This plant is different than most philodendrons as its stems will not grow in a vine like habit. The Congo Green is a self-header that spreads outward as it grows upward. The glossy, dark green, thick leaves are spaced very close to each other on a single stem. The stiff, beautifully red stem, keeps a Philodendron Congo upright and elegant looking as it matures.
Partial Sun: Plants that like this type of light are mostly the type of plants that grow on the forest floor, where they are somewhat protected against direct sunlight during some hours of the day. This is also a very normal light situation for many windows, usually with a west- or east- facing window with around 4 hours of direct light each day. This could also be a spot further away from a very sunny window.
