One of the most iconic and recognisable house plants, the Monstera has been a favourite for decades now. Wonderfully easy to grow, the Monstera is the perfect variety for beginners who want a big impact plant for their collection. Originally from the tropical forests of Mexico, these plants can grow over 60 feet tall in the wild! Indoors they are evidently more tame, but their fast growth and large leaves still makes them a favourite for many. These characterful leaves will slowly unfurl and darken to an emerald shade, and the older the plant, the more perforations will appear; a trait which has earned it the name 'Swiss Cheese Plant'. Your Monstera can be displayed in a number of ways, either trained to climb upwards, usually with the assistance of a moss pole, or left to spread out more naturally. Aside from offering an effortless display of beautiful foliage, NASA has also rated this plant as one of the best houseplants for purifying the air!
Partial Sun: Plants that like this type of light are mostly the type of plants that grow on the forest floor, where they are somewhat protected against direct sunlight during some hours of the day. This is also a very normal light situation for many windows, usually with a west- or east- facing window with around 4 hours of direct light each day. This could also be a spot further away from a very sunny window.
